Gratitude, well-being and giving thanks to my clients during the Thanksgiving Holiday!

Thanksgiving seems like the perfect time to say thank you to all of my clients who have supported my business over the last 10 years.   Most of my clients have heard me talk about “The Secret”, and how important I believe it is to live your life thinking positively, feeling grateful and putting out to the universe what you would like to happen in your life.  I found this bit of information online and hope you all take a moment to read it as you will see how being grateful can make you look and feel amazing!

    Acne At Any Age & How to Control it!

    Long before a blemish appears on your skin, it has been forming deep below the surface.
    When we look to treat acne-prone skin, from puberty through menopause, there are five areas of concern that must be addressed in order to experience actual improvement in the skin.

    1.   Sebaceous (oil) Glands sit deep within your skin.  These glands are always affected when acne is present and are usually over-producing oil, even if your skin does not feel oily.

    2.   Inflammation. The more profound the acne the more inflammation is present within the skin.  Inflammation is a major driving force behind acne and must be addressed both topically and internally.

    3.  Slowed skin cell turnover rate. As new cells grow beneath the skin the dead cells on the surface do not shed adequately enough to allow the oil from below to escape out of the skin’s pores, causing it to become trapped.

    4. Bacteria found on and in the skin multiplies at a rapid rate due to a perfect environment of dead skin cell build-up and excess oil.

    5. Enzymes located in the skin are triggered by an acneic skin condition.  5-alpha reductase is an enzyme that binds with testosterone, causing sebum to become sticky.  Lipase is secreted by bacteria and contributes to inflammation (oftentimes causing scarring).

    5 Ways to Look & Feel Younger in 7 Days!

    1.  Replace one meal a day for 7 days with a low sugar detoxifying juice – there are some great recipes online if you own your own juicer.  Be sure to add cucumber, lemon and blueberries to your juice as they all have properties that  delay the effects of aging, improve our skin elasticity, stave off wrinkles and get rid of bad skin problems.

    2. Up your exercise routine and commit to working out for AT LEAST 5 of the 7 day anti-aging regime!  If you are already going to the gym faithfully then push yourself a little harder – if you can do it for 5-7 days you have a good chance  of  making this a new habit.  Physically active people have cells that look younger on a molecular level than those of couch potatoes, according to new research that offers a fundamental new clue into how exercise may help stave off aging.

    3. Allow 10 minutes a day for  some stress-free “me” time.  A few nice ways to spend this time would be to pick up a magazine that you love,  just sit and listen to your ipod, or take your pooch for a walk around the block.  I always tell my clients that if I can take stress out of their lives during a one hour facial then that is the best anti-aging gift I can give them.

    4. Make a lunch date with a family member or friend who makes you happy – preferably someone with a happy positive attitude because studies show that laughter is good for your heart – it increases blood flow by 22 percent, per Good Housekeeping October 2010 issue and it’s a stress buster.

    5. Drink one cup of green tea a day – One cup of green tea provides more antioxidants than a serving of broccoli, spinach, carrots or strawberries. This activity reduces the harsh aging effects of environmental damage.

    How Does PMS affect your life?

    Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) (also called PMT or premenstrual tension) is a collection of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms related to a woman’s menstrual cycle.     7 Plastic Surgery Trends In 2011

    I found this blog by RealSelf very interesting so I decided to share it with my readers.

    Expect to see bigger rears, fewer wrinkles, and unfortunate botched jobs in the New Year, according to The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). They’ve made a number of plastic surgery predictions for 2011:

    1. Brighter financial times lift faces

    ASAPS cites the economy improving as stimulating demand for facelifts and other facial rejuvenation surgery (procedures people put off due to the recession).

    2. More fillers, Botox, and Injectables

    The growth and popularity of cosmetic injectables (Botox, Dysport, Sculptra, Radiesse, Evolence, Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane etc.) will continue to increase as products continue to evolve and new players enter the market.

    3. Massive weight loss leads to more skin tightening

    10 tips to a younger healthier you in 2011

    Here are some proven ways to live a longer fuller life.   Add some new habits and add years and some fun to your life!

    1. Two-plus hours of exercise a week and you’re 30 percent less likely to die in the next 20 years than if you don’t exercise at all.

    2. Check your body-mass index- anywhere between 18.5-22.9 and you maybe 2 1/2 times more likely to age free of disease.

    3. Having a waist circumference less than 35 inches cut your mortality risk by 23 percent- avocados and yogurt may shrink bloat and belly fat.

    4. Be sure your cholesterol level is under 160 to decrease risk of stroke and heart disease.
